Tinubu’s running mate declares certificates missing
Just few days after the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared that his educational certificates were missing, more confusion and controversies has set in.
It was gathered on Tuesday, 28th of June, 2022 that the placeholder for Tinubu’s running mate Kabir Ibrahim Masari has also come out to tell INEC that his certificates are missing. This has come as a shock and surprise to many Nigerians considering the tension already created by Ahmed Bola Tinubu himself.
This information was discovered as seen in an affidavit sworn by Mr Kabir Ibrahim Masari and submitted to the Independent Electoral Commission which stated clearly that he has misplaced some of his vital original documents. The vice presidential aspirant stated that some of the documents misplaced included a certificate of occupancy of a plot of land in Katsina state, his primary school certificate and also his Grade II certificate from Katsina teacher’s college.
The affidavit sworn by Mr Kabir Ibrahim Masari and submitted to INEC read partly as follows “That sometime in January 2021, while on transit within Wuse Area, FCT-Abuja, I discovered that my original Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of Plot, No KT 17522, GRA Katsina, Katsina State; Certificate of Kaduna State Development Centre from 1994 – 1995; Grade II Certificate from Katsina Teachers’ College (KTC) from 1978 – 1983 and First Leaving School Certificate issued by Masari Primary, Katsina State, from 1972 – 1978, got lost,”
“That all efforts made to trace the documents proved abortive hence this affidavit,”.
All concerned Nigerians are keen on this case especially as it concerns the ruling party of the Nation.
Recall also that Masari was tipped to have occupied the place of the running mate as a tactic to beat the deadline which was stipulated by INEC for political parties to provide their running mates. It was said that Masari was just a placeholder and may be replaced after proper search for the perfect person is completed.
This appointment however sparked rage across the masses given the fact that both the presidential aspirant and the running mate are seen to be of the same religion putting to consideration that a Muslim is currently the seating president of the country. Most citizens, especially the christians saw this as a foul play as have since been agitating for a Christian – Muslim ticket.
It now seems evident that there might be a change of running mate owing to the rollercoaster so far. Although nothing is certain yet, so we rather wait for what comes next.
