President Buhari’s convoy attacked by bandits in Katsina.
The advance team convoy of the president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was on Tuesday 6th July 2022 attacked by terrorists in his home state Katsina state.
The incident happened specifically when the convoy which was deployed in advance for the President’s trip to his home for Salah celebration was approaching Dutsima, Katsina state.
Although only two personell sustained injury, the act was condemned by the presidency as unacceptable and uncalled for.
Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman confirmed the attack in a statement and also disclosed that two persons sustained injuries.
The terrorists reportedly attacked a “convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.”
Nigerians reacting has been calling for the president to address the public so that it can be confirmed if he is safe or we are being lied to.
The President however is yet to address the general public on the event up till this moment.
This attack on the presidential convoy comes few days after the current Governor of Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom while addressing channels television made it known that with the level of insecurity in the country and negligence of securing lives and property by the Buhari led administration, it won’t be a surprise if we wake up on day as a nation and realize the presidential villa taken over by bandits and terrorists. Many thought the statement to be an extreme assumption but funny enough, it didn’t take long for attacks to the presidency to intensify.
Could this be the peak of banditry in the country? Or could this be the genesis of it?.
It’s no news that Insecurity has been on a steady increase of years in the country with little or no effort from the current administration to profer a lasting solution.
The statement read;
“The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.
“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.
“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.”
